In commemoration of the Okinawa International Movie Festival, a “Respect Screening” is planned. This special screening is for showing popular comedy movies, cartoon works, and animated fi lms from Japan and abroad. For the “Japanese comedy work”, the line-up which was chosen from vintage comedy movies in Japan will be shown. In the “World comedy work”, the best movie selection from hidden classic masterpieces produced around the world will be screened. In the “Respect Screening”, we pay attention to “cartoon” sub-culture and “animated fi lm” in which Japan takes pride of lace in the world. The three cartoonists, Osamu Tezuka who is known as the God of cartoons and is the originator of ‘Astro Boy’, which is the fi rst cartoon series in Japan, Fujio Akatsuka called the ‘King of gag’ who regrettably passed away last year, and Mikio Igarashi who keeps writing excellent works as a four-frame cartoonist, are picked up and their fi lmed works are shown. Moreover, a ‘Tatsuo Yoshida” and a “Walt Disney” special will be shown. Tatsuo Yoshida is the founder of TATSUNOKO PRODUCTION which is responsible for the hit works, “Gacchaman” and “Yattaman”. Walt Disney is Mickey Mouse"s creator. The character is loved all over the world, and Disney has been showing people their dreams through cartoon fi lms for a long time.Moreover the elaborate plans, like screening on the Okinawa’s open beach and introducing very unique short movies to people in the know, will be appeared.
